What is a domain name?
Domain names, such as www.a_domain.com, are easier for humans to remember than a websites IP address, so DNS servers are used to associate each website IP address with a domain name. When you type the website URL www.your_domain.com into your web browser, the browser will take you to the corresponding IP address of the web server where the website is hosted.
Domain Levels
There are different types and levels of domain names. Examples of the various levels are:
Top-level Domains (TLD) - .com, .net, .org, .edu, .info

Country Code Top-level Domains (ccTLD) - .ie, .uk, .us, .fr

What is an IP address?
Internet Protocol Address, a series of numbers used to uniquely identify a computer or device on an internal network or the Internet using TCP/IP. It consists of a series of four numbers separated by dots (for example 121.121.121.1). Or with IPv6 an IP address consists of 8 groups of four digits (for example 2032:0be8:47a3:0610:0032:9d2e:d470:7321)
What is a URL?
A URL stands for Universal Resource Locator, this is a web address such as http://www.your_domain.com
